Changing the Face of Riding

Josée Perreault, Senior Vice-President, Can-Am On-Road

Everyone belongs on the road, yet only 20% of all riders on it are women. To Can-Am, that is unacceptable and the team is on a mission to change that with the Can-Am Women's Mentorship Program.  A program that is led by women for women, it is designed to overcome barriers that prevent women from experiencing the power, strength and uninhibited exhilaration of riding by creating more inclusivity and education. How Riding Builds Community, Promotes Healthy Lifestyles

Andria Yu, Director of Communications, Motorcycle Industry Council

The Motorcycle Industry Council has launched a powersports initiative to get more people riding more. Part of the initiative has been to promote motorcycling as a commuting option, especially in these times when shared rides are discouraged, and promoting powersports as a way to recreate with family and friends while still being able to maintain social distancing. While COVID has forced many people to stay apart, powersports vehicles show there are ways to be "together" and form connections, while still being apart. Also, the industry has seen a spike in off-highway motorcycle sales (50%) and dual-purpose sales (21%), and there's a lot of anecdotal evidence from dealers that parents are buying dirt bikes and ATVs for kids so families can recreate together. While this is certainly some good news in these difficult times, there are also challenges ahead and we'll look at a few things the industry is doing to try to meet these challenges.

From the Saddle to CBD: Enjoy the Journey As Much As the Ride

Jeanine Moss, Founder, Outfront Solutions

Jeanine Moss is a lifelong learner in health, wellness and the psychology of happiness. Jeanine grew up in Venice, California, in the 60’s and 70’s where the wellness and cannabis culture were born. If it weren’t for hip replacement surgery, she might never have discovered the medicinal effects of CBD and THC. When traditional medicine threw Jeanine into an opioid brain-haze, she found cannabis products helped her function, abate the pain and return to normal function in a matter of days rather than weeks. Today Jeanine considers herself a “Modern Midlifer” striving to be well in body, mind and spirit, and consults with companies like Wisdom Essentials in legal states, actively helping educate people about the benefits of the plant. She rides a Piaggio 50cc scooter.
